Britt submits pay request on projects
County Engineer Larry Britt listed the current projects the county has on his plate for pay requests and other actions at the April 6 meeting of the board of supervisors.
The board approved a pay request # 3 from Ste Bil Grading for $194,996 for work done on the Blackwater Bridge raise project in District 4. The project is raising two bridges, that used to go underwater after heavy rains, to above the flood plain and has a budget of about $800,000.
Britt asked for a 75 day extension on the American Recovery Act Plan funded project on Hyline Drive on behalf of Trey Construction. He said work on getting the power supply to lift stations was slowed by the ice storm. The board approved change order #4 and pay request # 11 from Trey Construction for $185,668. Britt said there is about a half million dollars left in the budget.
Several pay requests for work at Project Poppy were approved including:
• pay request #2 from Southeastern Tank for $218,532 for construction of a ground storage tank (Phase 2C).
• a pay request from Caldwell Tank for $201,718 for an elevated water tower (Phase 2B).
• pay request # 5 from T.J. Construction for $668,038 for natural gas (Phase 8).
• pay request # 6 from Eubanks Construction for $131,926, for a sewer force main (Phase 9).
• pay request #2 from Argo Construction for $285,799 for a lift station (Phase 9A).
Several permit request were received:
• a short bore permit from AT&T at Laws Hill.
• a directional bore by AT&T at South Bend Subdivision.
• a 250 feet aerial cable by Comcast at Wildcat Bottom and McClure Road.
In other business, Britt said paving of Mt. Carmel Road is due to commence immediately.
District 1 Supervisor Goston Glover asked to table the project until the next meeting.
“They have signed a contract and a notice to proceed,” Britt said. “They took bids and the contract is signed.”
Glover’s motion failed for lack of a second. District 3 Supervisor Terry Rodgers then made a motion to proceed with construction. A roll call vote showed all supervisors except Glover voted to proceed.
County Administrator Tim Powell submitted a pay request from Britt for $1,154,641 for all engineering submitted on Project Poppy projects.
The state of Mississippi reimburses the county for Britt’s invoices on services performed on Project Poppy.
