A new bridge under construction on Highway 4 West at Chulahoma may be completed next spring, according to Mitch Turner, engineer with the Batesville office of the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
The work began April 16. There is no set completion date.
Joe McGee Construction Company Inc. has the $4.77 million project.
Turner said the new bridge will replace two bridges. One of the two bridges was replaced with a temporary bridge a few years ago, he said.
“MDOT will be assuming possession of this temporary bridge once traffic is on the new bridge and it can be removed,” Turner said. “The old bridges and roadbed will be removed.”
