Bridge dedication at Barton honors fallen firefighter

The Barton Fire Depart­ment, elected officials, and family members of Charles Foster recently celebrated his contributions to community life and safety with a ceremony.

The occasion was the naming of the new Coldwater River Bridge on Highway 309 North in honor of the firefighter who died of a massive heart attack in 2011 while on duty.

Amy Hornback, secretary of the Mississippi Trans­portation Com­mission, introduced Foster’s family members and dignitaries, including Mike Tagert, Commissioner of Trans­portation for the Northern Tagert said community volunteers like Foster help keep the community safe.
