Board OKs $8,000 for Social Justice Weekend

The Holly Springs Board of Alderman approved giving $4,000 to the Ida B. Wells Barnett Museum and another $4,000 to Rust College to take up a gap in funding for the first ever Social Justice Weekend celebration.
Activities will include the usual birthday celebration and banquet for the Ida B. Wells event and funding assistance for Rust College to put on a play and hold panel discussions and other festivities.
The celebration is set for July 12-15.
Charles Williams, with the college, said Rust has obtained a grant to cover some of its expenses, estimated to be $10,000. He said money is needed to cover the cost of speakers and for advertising and a play.
