Celestine Trice

Blessed woman

• Celestine Trice learns to rely on God

If you have met Celestine Pinson Trice, you remember her. She blesses you on the way in and blesses you on the way out.

“Be blessed. Have a blessed life,” she will say.

A life of hardships has not kept her spirit down.

She was born the daughter of Mary Jane Pinson on the Teer farm, a plantation in District 2 of Marshall County. She lives on the place now, once the property of her grandfather. But between then and now a lot of living took place.

Her cousin, Lillian Jean Wilson, wrote a documentary about her mother’s daddy, James Holmes Teer.

Trice was born in 1941 and at age 6 her mother moved to Holly Springs so she could go to school. Their first house was on Valley Avenue.
