Bill Renick named new TVA chairman
Bill Renick, of Ashland, has been named as chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority's board of directors. He replaces chairman Joe H. Ritch, whose term expired May 18, 2025.
He became a member of the nine member board of directors after appointment by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate Dec. 2, 2022.
The chairman of the TVA board of directors leads and manages the board of directors, sets agendas, runs board meetings, and establishes committees, as well as represents TVA at public events.
Renick, 71, was elected as the youngest alderman in Mississippi at age 18, serving as an alderman and then mayor of the town of Ashland at 27.
He then was elected to the Board of Supervisors of Benton County and later served in the state senate from 1988 to 1992.
He served as chief of staff for Mississippi Lt. Gov. Eddie Briggs and as chief of staff for Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove.
Renick served as executive director of the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority, then 13 years with 3 Rivers Planning and Development District, workforce division.
He was past chair of the Commission of the Future of Northeast Mississippi.
A longtime public servant, Renick has served in multiple local and state elected and appointed positions.
His term on the TVA board of directors expires May 18, 2027.
