Sunday, July 1, two churches in Barton are planning a “United As One” service.
Brookside Baptist, a white church, and Shiloh MB, a black church, are joining together, as one, to worship and to begin with this one small step toward healing the racial divide.
“In Barton, we are close to Memphis (Tenn.). The racial divide is very pervasive there and we are attempting to bridge that gap,” said Brookside pastor Marvin Tharnish.
The joint worship service will be held at Brookside, 10:30 a.m. The congregation from Shiloh MB Church will be coming there.
