Barton business robbed
Sunday around 8 a.m., a suspect put an object to the head of the store clerk at Son’s Exxon in Barton and demanded cash, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
“The suspect had been in and out of the store four times that morning,” he said. “He took an undertermined amount of cash and a carton of cigarettes and drove off on Highway 309 South.”
Store cameras provided video of the activity inside the store and also of the vehicle. A BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was sent out with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and it was soon recognized by Byhalia police. After crossing the railroad track in Byhalia, the suspect turned his vehicle east on Highway 178, with Byhalia police in pursuit. The vehicle turned left on Edwards Road, then left on Scenic Drive, and then drove through a yard in the 200 block of Ridge Road.
