Arrest made in murder; others expected

A suspect is in jail and several others are being sought in connection with a murder/robbery Saturday afternoon, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

Investigators were called to a residence in the 5700 block of Hernando Road where a victim had been shot multiple times and was lying on the bedroom floor, Dickerson said.

Medical personnel were already on the scene and the victim was still alive, he said.

Several witnesses provided information to investigators which led to the identification of suspects, the sheriff said.

One suspect was taken into custody and others were expected to be arrested Monday at presstime by agents with the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service, according to Maj. Kelly McMillen with the sheriff’s department.

The victim, Martin L. Saulsberry, 50, died Saturday night at 7:46 at Regional One Health Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., according to Marshall County Coroner James Richard Anderson.

Delvin Jamal Alison, 23, of the 6700 block of Hernando Road, is the suspect already in custody at the Marshall County Jail, charged with capital murder, Dickerson said.

No weapon was recovered, but multiple shell casings were found at the scene. An undetermined amount of money was taken from the victim, he said.

“We have an ongoing investigation,” said McMillen, asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to call the sheriff’s department at 662-252-1311 and ask to speak to investigations or Sheriff Dickerson.

Burglaries increase McMillen also reminds the public to write down serial numbers and take photos of their equipment in case thieves steal items such as side-by-sides and other motorized equipment or trailers. Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are times when an uptick in burglaries and thefts take place, he said.

“Watch your neighbor’s property and if you see something, say something,” he said.

An individual’s property may be recovered if stolen. It can be identified by your serial numbers and photos.
