Armed robbery suspect arrested

The primary suspect in the armed robbery of the Shell Station in Barton, Saturday, Sept. 16, has been arrested in DeSoto County, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

John Michael Wilson, 50, of the 40 block of Oakland School Road, Corinth, was taken into custody by agents with the Olive Branch Police Department around noon Wednesday, Sept. 20, he said. He said concerned citizens and new technology helped locate the suspect in DeSoto County.

Wilson was driving a Hyundai Elantra when he was arrested, Dickerson said. The red wheel on the left rear of the vehicle helped identify the car Wilson was driving when arrested.

Wilson is in custody at the Marshall County jail and was arraigned in justice court on an armed robbery charge. He is being held without bond, the sheriff said.

Wilson is also a person of interest in other criminal activities in Alcorn County, Dickerson said.

A warrant is also issued for Gerald Gerrod Anderson, 53, of the 5900 block of Pebble Beach Cove in Memphis, Tenn., who is a suspect who drove the getaway car after the robbery, Dickerson said.

A warrant for Anderson’s arrest has been issued as an accessory before the fact as a principal to robbery, Dickerson said.

Anyone who has information about Anderson’s whereabouts is urged to call the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 662-252-1311. Callers will remain anonymous when providing information to authorities.

Dickerson said officers with the Memphis Police Department and Shelby County as well as agents with the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Task Force are seeking the whereabouts of Anderson.
