Aldermen address animal control
The Holly Springs Board of Aldermen voted unanimously during its recent meeting to advertise for an animal control officer, moving the staffing item to the forefront of a discussion addressing stray animal complaints and municipal code enforcement.
Alderwoman Patricia Merriweather and other board members stressed the urgency of filling animal control positions to support the police department and protect local residents. The board also reviewed ongoing code enforcement efforts to clean up blighted and abandoned properties throughout the municipality.
“We are trying to find things for the youth and adult populations to do here, but addressing our blighted properties is essential for our city’s progress,” Merriweather said during the meeting.
Board members also approved a parade route and traffic management plan for the upcoming Rust College Founders Week Homecoming celebration.
Returning units will exit off Salem Street and travel down Randolph Street, connecting to West Street to reach their final destinations without requiring a return through the main campus.
City officials noted that the route modification aims to minimize traffic congestion during the homecoming festivities while ensuring smooth coordination between local law enforcement, the street department, and event organizers.
