Airport hosts first Aviation Day

The Marshall County-Holly Springs Airport hosted its first-ever Aviation Day on October 16.

Aviation Day was open to all Marshall County high schools and was well attended.

On hand for sessions and to field questions were representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), aviation mechanics, pilots, machinists, and aircraft composite and painting experts. The FAA representatives explained to the students the procedures and implementation of Air Traffic Control as well as its importance. Northwest Community College Aviation Mechanics School provided a hands-on demonstration of a turbine engine for the students. Local pilots, machinists, mechanics, and aircraft composite and painting experts spent time introducing the students to their jobs and explaining various aviation fields available.
