‘Major damage’

Holly Springs police, fire and utility service personnel are pictured at the intersection of Randolph Street and Van Dorn Avenue Monday afternoon. Sgt. Roderick Brown, with the police department, said an 18-wheeler hauling farm equipment caused “major damage,” including downed lines and traffic light (at left), plus a snapped utility pole. “The truck was too big to be in that area,” he said. The truck driver was traveling south on Randolph Street and turned right onto Van Dorn Avenue toward downtown, Brown said. He left the scene and was stopped on Highway 7 South near Huddle House, Brown said, and charged with a couple of misdemeanors.
