County school board announces March 4 meeting The Marshall County School Board
has rescheduled its March meeting for Tuesday, March 4.
It will be held at 3:30 p.m. at
103-B Market Street in Holly Springs.
Mississippi primary elections scheduled Tuesday, March 11 Mississippi’s big Tuesday is less
than two weeks away.
The
state will hold party primary elections for president, U.S. Senate and
U.S. Congress on Tuesday, March 11, to select party nominees for the
November General Election.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to
7 p.m.
Absentee voting is now available
in the Marshall County circuit clerk’s office, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
Weekend drive set for toys, supplies for Iraqi children Paula
Clark has set Friday, Saturday and Monday (Feb. 29, March 1 and 3) as
dates to collect soccer balls, toys and school supplies for children in
Iraq. She is beginning the drive at the request of Cpt. Mark Clark, her
son, who is serving in Iraq.
Items can be brought to the south
gazebo at the Marshall County Courthouse.
Cpt.
Clark said he set a goal to collect 1,000 soccer balls, toys for boys
and girls of all ages, school supplies including pencils, paper,
folders, and clothing to help win the hearts and minds of the local
people.
He said he works with the
transition
teams that are working with the National Police in Baghdad, who will
distribute the items to the children of Iraq.
MDA approves grant for homebuyer assistance funds The City of Holly Springs has
been approved for a $250,000 grant by the Mississippi Development
Authority.
Mayor Andre’ DeBerry announced
the grant for homebuyer assistance funds through the Home
Investment Partnership Program (HOME).
Governor
Haley Barbour said the City of Holly Springs has demonstrated local
commitment in addressing the housing improvement needs of Mississippi.
“I
commend you for this initiative and for helping to improve the quality
of life in your community, especially as it relates to the low- and
very low-income citizens,” he said in a letter to the city.
