Lady Hawks eliminated by Belmont By BARRY BURLESON Editor The record itself may not indicate it, but the Holly Springs Lady Hawks took big strides forward this season. The
girls were eliminated in round one of the Region 1-3A Tournament
Tuesday of last week by an always-talented Belmont squad. Holly High
finished 6-16 under the guidance of their new head coach, Sylvester

Hawks shock Bears By BARRY BURLESON Editor Holly Springs led Alcorn Central for less than 10 seconds in the Region 1-3A Tournament semi-finals. That was enough. Tyler
Brown sank two game-winning free throws with eight ticks to go as the
third-seeded Hawks stunned the second-seeded Bears, 49-48. Coach
Naylond Hayes’ team, who trailed the rest of the night February 13,

Byhalia teams finish third, fourth in district, advance to North Half By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor Byhalia was paired with a familiar foe in round two of the Region 3-3A tournament at North Panola. The
last time the Indians and Charleston met in the regular season, it had
been in Indian territory and had ended in a two-point victory for
Byhalia (69-67). There was considerably more at stake in this
semi-final district game so the intensity level was higher. The Tigers
