Close to Nowhere By Linda Jones Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to the doctor I go •
I might have mentioned once or twice that I’ve been sick with
bronchitis since before Thanksgiving. OK, I’ve whined a lot about it,
but... After antibiotics and wonderful cough
syrup that put me right to sleep, I thought I was getting better. At a
routine visit to Dr. Hawkins though, she said, “I can still hear your
bronchitis.” Full Story

Traffic light
To the Editor:
Which of the candidates for mayor of Holly Springs has the
will and/or the power to solve the following problem? Someone needs to get the time adjusted on the traffic light at
the corner of Rust Avenue and Memphis Street. I have talked to both Kelvin Buck and André DeBerry about this
ridiculous situation. The waiting time for a green light when turning
left from Rust Avenue to go downtown is longer than any traffic light I
have ever encountered — perhaps double the time. People are frequently dealing with this humiliating, unfair
and exasperating state of affairs by cutting through the service
station on the corner. Obviously this creates a traffic hazard. This long traffic light is a disgrace, causing unfair hardship
to anyone on Rust Avenue. If, as we are told, it is something that only the Mississippi
Department of Transportation can remedy, that only highlights the
question: Which candidate for mayor can accomplish a solution?
