Holly High sweeps cross-county rival By CLAUDE VINSON Editor The
second meeting of the 3A teams comprising the longest-standing rivalry
in Marshall County got underway on the Hawks’ turf on February 5. The
Lady Hawks had first possession and both Holly Springs and Byhalia had
a few good looks, most from three-point land. Starlandria Walton broke
through a pair of Lady Indians and put Holly High on the board. The
Lady Hawks scored a couple more before Byhalia’s Shandricka Sessom went
to work. She sank a trey and a pair of deuces to open the gates. Some
more Lady Indians joined in to make it 15-8 at the end of the period. Full Story

Behind The Scoreboard By Claude Vinson Parity in college basketball? We
are one week behind Super Bowl XLVII and about 51 weeks away from Super
Bowl XLVIII. As enjoyable and exciting as the season was, it was also
suspenseful. As the late season was demised (for want of a better word)
on February 3, it is reasonable to record the shuffling of team
positions at the end. Don’t worry 49ers’ fans, I am not going to repeat
any scores or anything. Full Story

Lady Hawks beat 6A foe By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor This was a rubber match between a big (6A Olive Branch) school and a little (3A Holly High) school. The
first installment was played across the county line and the little
school shocked the big school with a one-point victory. And it appeared
that the Lady Conquistadors were not taking any chances this time. They
were contesting the Lady Hawks full court from the outset. They
out-hustled the Lady Hawks under the boards and led the first quarter
by five, 19-14. Full Story
Patriots stun 5A Center Hill By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Marshall Academy Patriots wrapped up the regular season February 5 with a huge road win. MA avenged an earlier home loss to Center Hill by beating the Mustangs 90-87. Coach
