• First PTA meeting Holly Springs High School will have their first PTA meeting of the year Thurs., Feb. 7, 5:30 p.m. in the school library. Your presence will make the difference. PTA president, Angela Mayfield.

• TREE GIVE-AWAY Feb. 8, there will be a tree give-away at the Marshall County Extension/MFC Offices, 810 Highway 178 East in Holly Springs. The event will take place from 8:30 until 10 a.m. Mississippi Forestry Commission is sponsoring the event. Service forester is Justin Dewberry, Marshall/Benton Counties.

• Brotherly love Come out and celebrate with singing, preaching and dining with Rev. John Powell and Joe Powell at Jones Grove MB Church, 7 p.m., Fri., Feb. 8. Host pastor, Rev. John Powell. Birthday celebration.

• St. Jude Benefit Fish Fry will be held at Emory Methodist Church, 5-7 p.m. Plates include fish, hushpuppies, French fries, cole slaw, drink and dessert. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

• Ball sign-up The Northwest Side Civic Club announces that youth baseball/softball sign-up for the Harmontown-Tyro-Laws Hill area will be held each Saturday on February 9, 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the civic building in Harmontown. All children and youth of T-ball age and older are invited. Cost for each child is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Anyone interested in coaching or sponsoring a team may attend one of the sign-ups or call Max Billingsley at (662) 526-5090 or by email at billingsley1520@bellsouth.net.

• GOSPEL SINGING Emmanuel Baptist Church, Red Banks Road, is hosting a gospel singing with The Williams Family from Wren. Fellowship will be at 5 p.m. and singing at 6 p.m. Bro. Don and congregation invite all.

• Ball sign-up Byhalia Sports Association will hold registration for spring and summer girls softball for ages 6-16 and youth baseball for ages 3 through 15 on Sat., Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Byhalia Town Hall. Please be prepared to turn in a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate. • Bird watching program Beginning bird watching will be held at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center on Sat., Feb. 9, 10:30 a.m. Learn the basics of birdwatching; how you can participate in various bird watching programs and take home a sample of suet for the birds in your backyard.
