Christmas parade set for Saturday in Byhalia
The Town of Byhalia’s Christmas parade, “Byhalia Believes,” will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m.
Last Friday night’s scheduled Christmas Tree Lighting and Arrival of Santa was postponed due to the icy weather and will be held in conjunction with the parade.
Byhalia Elementary, Middle and High School choirs will perform. Citizens Bank will provide hot dogs.
Early deadlines set for Christmas, New Year’s
The South Reporter announces early deadlines for its December 26 edition due to the Christmas holidays.
The deadline for classified advertising will be Friday, Dec. 20, at 12 noon. The deadline for all other advertising (including legals) and news and photographs will be Friday, Dec. 20, at 5 p.m.
The South Reporter office in Holly Springs will close Christmas Eve at noon and remain closed through Christmas Day. It will reopen Thursday, Dec. 26, at 8 a.m.
The same early deadlines will apply the following week for New Year’s. All deadlines will be Friday, Dec. 27, for the January 2, 2014, edition of The South Reporter.
Chamber, Tourism hosting Holiday Gala
The Holiday Gala, hosted by the Holly Springs Main Street Chamber and the Holly Springs Tourism and Recreation Bureau, has been rescheduled for this Friday night, Dec. 13.
It was originally set for December 6 but rescheduled due to the icy weather.
The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Kirkwood National.
There will be entertainment and dinner will be served. Tickets are $25.

Meeting Thursday on Brownsfield Project
Holly Springs will hold a meeting Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at city hall to introduce the public to the Brownfields grant process. Consultants will be on hand to explain the project and answer questions.
On Dec. 12, at 10 a.m., the mayor and board of aldermen will meet with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency to discuss the project. Board members and the mayor will meet with the project consultant at 5:30 p.m. on December 11 to take a course – Brownfields 101.
All three meetings are open to the public.
