Indians win district thriller By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor Friday
was the return match between Region 3-3A competitors Byhalia and
Charleston, and just like the first meeting January 8, this one was a
split – Lady Indians losing and Indians winning. The
Lady Tigers represent one of the strongest teams in the division and
brought a 16-3 record to Byhalia. When the game started Friday night,
it looked like a set of bookends, height and speed. Charleston had a
pair with quickness and a good shooting eye. Aqueshia Kimble and Mary
Washington were leading the breaks and scoring the points. They had the

Byers takes two from West Union By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The
West Union Eagles and Lady Eagles visited the Lions’ Den at H.W. Byers
Tuesday night of last week and met stiff opposition from all quarters. The
Byers teams were still regaling in the glow of defeating a big rival in
Region 2-1A. The Lions had knocked off the number one contender and
defending state champ in the Coldwater Cougars on January 18. The Lady

Rodgers scores 20 in MC win Senior guard Traci
Rodgers tied a season-high with 20 points as the Mississippi College
women’s basketball team pulled away for a 68-54 win at East Texas
Baptist on Thursday night in Ornelas Gymnasium. The
Lady Choctaws (11-7, 8-4 ASC) scored seven unanswered points to end the
first half and took a 33-19 lead into the break. To open the second
half, Rodgers nailed a jumper and gave MC at 16-point advantage, their
