Sheriff seeks robbery suspects
By SUE WATSON
The armed robbery of a truck stop and grocery store is under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said two men entered Jo Jo’s Truck Stop at 4101 Highway 178 West in Red Banks Thursday, Jan. 23, at about 9:45 p.m. and demanded money from the register. One suspect, armed with what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon, held the store clerk at gunpoint while the suspects took all the cash out of the register, he said.
The suspects are believed to have arrived at Jo Jo’s driving a silver Honda Civic, according to Maj. Kelly McMillen with the sheriff’s office. He said video obtained at the truck stop may help with the identification of two suspects.
Another armed robbery occurred Saturday around 10 p.m. at the Dollar General Store on Taska Road, McMillen said two suspects wearing masks entered the store with semiautomatic weapons and held two clerks at gunpoint. The suspects took cash from a safe in the store, he said.
A substantial monetary reward is being offered for information that leads to the identification and conviction of suspects in these two robberies, Dickerson said.
Tips can be called in anonymously to Marshall County Crime Stoppers at 800-729-2169 or to investigators at the sheriff’s department at 662-252-1311. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
