Byhalia Chamber hosting lunch Thursday
The annual Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce Awards of the Year Luncheon is set for Thursday, Jan. 30.
Awards will be presented for Leader of the Year, Customer Service, Board Member of the Year and Non-Profit/Civic Organization.
The event, which will be held at Northcentral Electric Power Association, begins at 11 a.m. with displays and networking. A buffet lunch follows at 11:30 a.m. and the program at 12 noon.
Northcentral EPA is located at 4600 Northcentral Way, Highway 178 at Hacks Cross Road in Olive Branch.
Sponsor of the event is Brantley Funeral Home of Olive Branch, and the speaker, Jonathan Matthews, will talk about “Today’s Trends in Funeral Service.”
Cost of the luncheon is $10 for members with a reservation and $20 without a reservation. It will be catered by Clancy’s Cafe of Red Banks. Display space is available for $30 (which includes one lunch).

Byhalia police officers respond to 30 calls
The Byhalia Police Department responded to 30 calls during the past week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – miscellaneous, 8; escorts, 5; animals, 1; assists, 1; fires, 3; burglaries, 1; medical, 6; DUIs, 1; and alarm calls, 4.
Byhalia police officers also made three arrests during the past week, according to Chief Looney.
UNCF banquet set for February 6 at Rust
The annual Rust College/Marshall County UNCF Banquet will be held Thursday, Feb. 6.
It begins at 7 p.m. in Shaw Cafeteria on the campus of Rust College.
Guest speaker this year is Stacy L. Spencer, pastor of New Direction Christian Church, with locations in both Holly Springs and Memphis, Tenn.
