• A Marathon for Christ will be held at Victoria Heights Baptist Church with Bro. Don and Sister Judy Fitch from Milan, Tenn. Preaching and singing will be held Feb. 1-3 at 6 p.m. and Sunday morning worship will be at 10:55 a.m. Pastor Bro. Bobby Campbell and congregation invite everyone to attend these services.

• Tryouts The Mississippi Hardhats will hold open player tryouts on Friday and Sat., Febuary 1-2, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Rust College gym, Holly Springs. The Hardhats’ open player tryouts provide desiring players the opportunity to earn a spot with the Mississippi Hardhats for the upcoming 2008 season.

• Weight loss meetings Emory Independent Methodist Church will have the first meeting of a prayer based group, in the chapel, focusing on a healthier lifestyle and weight loss. Everyone is invited to come and work toward better health and body using the Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight for Every Body Plan. • Concert Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 3115 Old Pigeon Roost Road, will host a concert with “The Geeslin Brothers” 10:45 a.m. After the morning worship service lunch will follow. Pastor Oscar Geeslin invites all to come. No night service.

• Misson lunch Friendship Assembly of God missions directors Danny and Stella Nunley will host a lunch to support missionaries in the field. • St. Jude Benefit Fish Fry will be held at Emory Methodist Church, 5-7 p.m. Plates include fish, hushpuppies, French fries, cole slaw, drink and dessert. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

• Ball sign-up The Northwest Side Civic Club announces that youth baseball/softball sign-up for the Harmontown-Tyro-Laws Hill area will be held each Saturday on February 9, 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the civic building in Harmontown. All children and youth of T-ball age and older are invited. Cost for each child is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
