Masks host pre-game cookout
Friday night, the shop of Amy and Perry Mask was the venue for a pre-game cookout for the Marshall Academy Patriots football team, the cheerleaders and their families. The shop walls were adorned with the senior banners and cheer signs and the tables decorated much the same. The players’ parents provided wonderful grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, along with all of the fixings. Everyone enjoyed fabulous fellowship and Patriot pride one last time before heading to the “ship.”
Mississippi College hosted the Patriots Saturday when they were vying for the State A championship in football. They played the Saints of Trinity Episcopal School. Fans and parents packed the stands in the cold rain to watch the showdown. The game did not get off to a good start, which seemed to carry on throughout the four quarters of play. Junior Jordon Harris made a remarkable run, shrugging off tackles, to put the only points on the board for the Patriots. It was a bittersweet ending to a winning season, with most games being blowouts.
A big thank you to the senior players: Artemus Boyd, Josh Mask, Andrew Herrington, Logan Liddy, Dalton Pritchard, Zach Mahan, B.W. Langston, Connor Cannon, Caleb Jobe and Jacob Driggers. They gave everyone great Friday night entertainment throughout the season.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our readers. Let us remind ourselves as we gather around the table to truly remember to be thankful for the ones who allow you in their lives. They have you there because you are special, not for the things you have accumulated. Things are replaceable - dear loved ones are not.
