Grady Brooks celebrates birthday with his friends
Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., was the weekend guest of Mary Clay and Gene Brooks. He attended the Marshall Academy football game Friday night to watch granddaughter Caitlyn cheer. He was here to celebrate Grady’s birthday. Sunday, he went with Mary Clay and Kay Wheeler to the River Arts Festival in Memphis, Tenn.
Saturday, Grady Brooks was treated to lunch and a movie with three of his friends, Tanner Cook, Waylon Langston and Michael Ragsdale, in Collierville, Tenn., for his birthday.
Attention all chicken wing lovers – The Chicken Coop is now open and serving delicious wings. I rode by Friday shortly after lunch and did not see any activity, so figured they had not opened yet. Saturday, Grady wanted to ride by again since he loves chicken wings. Lo and behold, balloons were flying and people were flocking in to eat. He could not scramble out of the car to go get a menu fast enough. We left and ran some errands and then I went back to order. The speed of their service is great – I thought the wait to order would be unreal because there were so many people. The ordering process ran like clockwork - place your order; get your ticket and have a seat. Televisions are on the walls, so that helps to pass the time. The owner, Chelsey, introduced himself to me. He made the rounds around the restaurant checking on each customer, making sure they were happy. They offer a variety of flavored wings from “suicide” for the hot lovers to “seasoned” for the purists who just love the wings. Our favorite is “honey gold.” Their menu also offers other Southern classics like a pork chop sandwich, fried bologna and fried green tomatoes. Congratulations to Chelsey and his staff for bringing a fabulous new restaurant to town.
