man arrested Friday after allegedly shooting and killing his brother
and holding two others hostage has been charged with capital murder. Bilethon
Autry, 24, was taken into custody after a three-hour standoff with
police at 3887 Majestic Oaks in the upscale Grand Oaks subdivision in

County gets funds By SUE WATSON Staff Writer Marshall
County walked away with about $1.75 million in American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act road projects, according to Larry Britt, county
engineer. One ARRA project will use $242,645 on
Mt. Carmel Road in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park. The remaining
$1.5 million will go toward paving the North Holly Springs bypass road,

WIN Center budget estimated By SUE WATSON Staff Writer The
startup cost to put a WIN Job Center in Marshall County has been
estimated by employees with the Three Rivers Planning and Development
District and Northwest Community College to be close to $67,745 yearly. The
figures were crunched on what it would take to pay the annual salary of
one staffer to run the WIN (Workforce Investment Network) Center and to

This week’s blue skies and sunshine are a welcome sight after a cloudy, wet September. The
National Climatic Data Center’s Climate Reference Network reported a
total of 8.26 inches of rain at the Mississippi State Experiment
Station on Highway 7 North in Marshall County. There was no rain
recorded until September 9 when 0.55 inches fell. But the larger rains
began September 15 with 0.79 inches and from there on the bottom of the
bucket seemed to fall out with the last rain recorded Saturday, Sept.

Youth leadership takes off in county By SUE WATSON Staff Writer The
long-awaited Youth Leadership Marshall class got underway recently at
the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building in Holly Springs. Twenty-four
students selected from six area middle and high schools are
participating in this program which entails three training days. Full Story
New Orleans student visits Ida B. Wells Museum Zeyaa
V. Keita of New Orleans, La., recently completed a project, “The Life
and Times of Ida B. Wells.” She visited the Ida B. Wells Museum Sat.,
Sept. 26. After touring the museum, she and her family enjoyed lunch at

Little Dribblers Oct. 3, 10 Girls and boys are invited to participate in the Potts Camp Little Dribblers the next two Saturdays. Youngsters
can have fun, play games and learn the game of basketball from 10 a.m.
to noon on October 3 and October 10. The cost is $10 per Saturday. Potts Camp Cardinal and Lady Cardinal basketball players will be on hand. Participants
can perform at halftime of a home basketball game, and those who attend
all three Saturdays will get a free T-shirt.
