| Absentee voting available; voter registration deadline Friday By BARRY BURLESON Editor Absentee voting for the November 4 general election has begun in the Marshall County circuit clerk’s office. Regular
office hours in the county courthouse in Holly Springs are from 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Absentee ballots can also be requested
by mail. The circuit clerk’s office will be open
additional hours, Saturday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m.
to noon for absentee voting. The ballot includes: - For President and Vice President of the United States
- Republican Party - John McCain and Sarah Palin.
- Democratic Party - Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
- Constitution Party - Chuck Baldwin and Darrell L. Castle.
- Libertarian Party - Bob Barr and Wayne A. Root.
- Green Party - Cynthia A. McKinney and Rosa Clemente.
- Independent - Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez.
- Reform Party - Ted C. Weill and Frank McEnulty.
- For United States Senate
- Republican Party - Thad Cochran.
- Democratic Party - Erik R. Fleming.
- Special Election For United States Senate (unexpired term) Ronnie Musgrove or Roger Wicker.
- For United States House of Representatives, First Congressional District
- Democratic Party - Travis W. Childers.
- Republican Party - Greg Davis.
- Independent - Wally Pang.
- Green Party - John M. Wages Jr.
- For Election Commissioner, District 1 - Del Stover.

If
not yet registered to vote, the last day to do so in order to
participate in the General Election is Friday, Oct. 3. Voter
registration is available in the Marshall County circuit clerk’s office
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Also,
a voter registration form can be downloaded from the county’s web site,
marshallco.ms.org. This form can also be used for changes of address.
The forms can be returned by mail, as long as they are postmarked by
the deadline of October 3. On election day, November 4, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
