Recipes from Martha Ruth Leonard
Overnight Coffee Cake
1 pkg. frozen roll dough (20-30 rolls)
1/2 cup brown sugar
dry pudding mix with brown sugar and pecans. Melt butter. Place frozen
roll dough in a well buttered Bundt pan (do not use angel food pan).
Pour melted butter over frozen dough and sprinkle with pudding mixture.
Leave cake pan out overnight. The dough rises beautifully by morning.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Invert on serving plate and serve.
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
Mix above ingredients and pour into a 9x13 ungreased pan. Bake at 350° for 30-40 minutes.
1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
Mix all frosting ingredients together and spread on hot cake.

Scottish visitors entertained royally
With the skirling of bagpipes by a kilted piper, following service at First Presbyterian Church, Scottish visitors Jan Montgomery and Margaret and Bob Wallace, Perth, Scotland natives, received a warm welcome to Holly Springs. They were given a whirlwind taste of the town, visiting with many locals.
Plane crashes in tree; two men rescued
Two men were rescued from a tree, without injury, by the Holly Springs Fire Dept. Saturday after a small, private plane crashed into a large tree in Benton County. The two men were rescued from approximately 65 feet up in the tree.

Alumnus of year
Dr. David L. Beckley was named Alumnus of the Year by the University of Mississipi School of Education Alumni Chapter. Dr. Beckley’s wife Gemma and their daughter Lisa attended the ceremony. Dr. Beckley, a former Rust College administrator and past Ole Miss faculty member, is president of Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.
Second Mease trial will cost Marshall County close to $50,000
In the second trial of Bart Mease, convicted of capital murder in the death of Sheriff Osborne Bell, Marshall County picks up the tab for all the court expenses. Chancery Clerk Johnny Taylor said costs for the seven-day trial at the Calhoun County Courthouse could go as high as $50,000.

Women of St. Joseph’s Church
The Confraternity of Christian Mothers met with the women at New Albany at the home of Mrs. Dominic Servadio on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13, with 13 members present. Father Stoll led in prayer. Officers elected were: Mrs. Mike Contini, president; Mrs. Dominic Servadio, vice president and Mrs. Louise Owen, secretary-treasurer.
New Holly Springs jail
The most recent addition to the City of Holly Springs is the new jail, located on Spring St., an annex to the city power plant. Mayor Sam Coopwood and city officials cordially invite the public to inspect the new facilities at any time.
