• Retreat The Women’s Ministries of Friendship Assembly of God will be leaving for Indian Springs Camp for a weekend retreat. Tina Richardson, U.S. federal prosecutor, and co-pastor with her husband at their home church in San Antonio, Texas, will be the guest speaker for the evening. Reservations are still available. • Poker run Help bring the Veterans Memorial Wall to Holly Springs. Poker run, patio parking, Sept. 13 at the VFW in Holly Springs. Silent auction, barbecue plates and bike show. • Male chorus anniversary Smith Grove male chorus will celebrate their 18th anniversary, Sept. 13-14. Saturday night the emcee will be Pastor Willie Huey and guest speaker on Sunday will be Adolph King, with special guest Don Randolph.

• Meet the candidates rally and fish fry, Sat., Sept. 13, 3 p.m. at the Eddie L. Smith Multi-Purpose Building. Sponsored by the Marshall County Democratic Executive Committee. Fish dinners, meet the candidates or their representatives, local elected officials, neighbors and friends. Also voter registration and voter info. • FREE AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM Parents and students are invited to attend an Open House on Monday, September 15, 3 p.m., at the Latter Rain Church to hear about Project Youth RAC, a valuable after-school homework/tutorial program. The goal of the program is to provide students, grades 5-8, with free tutoring in reading, math and service learning activities that will enrich their educational progress.
