County, city
students return to school this week
It’s back-to-school time for area school children.
Students
in the Marshall County School District and those
attending Holy Family School returned to school Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Other
school starting dates are Thursday, Aug. 7, Holly
Springs schools; Thursday, Aug. 14, Marshall Academy; Monday, Aug. 25,
Friendship Christian Academy.

Democratic
committee sets meetings, elects treasurer
Upcoming
meetings of the Marshall County Democratic Executive Committee
are August 28, September 25 and October 30.
Meetings
will be held at Marshall County Court Room B at 6
p.m. All Democratic elected officials and registered Democrats are
welcome to attend.
The
MDEC recently elected a treasurer and filled a delegate
vacancy for District 1, Joe Louis Tunstall and Annie Murry,
respectively. Also, MDEC formed a budget committee, a finance committee
and a bylaws committee.

Saturday, Nov. 1, absentee voting ends at 12 noon

Annual
hummingbird event Sept. 5-7 at Strawberry
The
annual Hummingbird Migration Celebration is just one month away.
The
event is set for Friday-Sunday, Sept. 5-7 at the
Strawberry Plains Audubon Center, 285 Plains Road, Holly Springs. It’s
located just off Highway 311.
The
September celebration features the spectacular fall
migration of the ruby-throated hummingbird. Thousands of the tiny birds
are drawn to the center’s forests, gardens and feeders.
There
will be fun for all ages – wildlife demos and nature
trade show, hummingbird banding and release, nature programs and guided
walks.

The
Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce announces the annual Kudzu
