Fund-raiser Friday for Humane Society
The Dog Days of Summer Live and Silent Auction will be held Friday, August 1, at the VFW in Holly Springs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Among items offered for bid are golf for four, tour of a winery for 8-12 people, a photo sitting for your pet, overnight stay in New Orleans, plants, framed prints, tools, dog agility classes and many more.
The event will again be catered by Clancy’s Café, with wine tasting provided by Alliance Beverage Mississippi and entertainment by 662DJ.
All proceeds will go to care of animals taken in by Marshall County Humane Society. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at door.

Sounds of Summer August 23 in Byhalia
The Sounds of Summer Arts and Music Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Byhalia Walking Track, 120 College Street.
Gate admission is $5 (12 years and under free). A kids fun zone wristband will be available for $5.
Highlights of this year’s festival include arts and crafts booths, fantastic food, live music featuring Ingram Hill and Shy and Bill “Howl-N-Madd” Perry, a cornhole tournament, wellness and business exhibits, motorcycle and Model A car displays, and much more.
Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the many activities.

Back-to-school event August 9 in Byhalia
Hearts and Hands Ministries will host a Back-to-School Bonanza on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 3-6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Byhalia.
Hearts and Hands will provide clear backpacks, school supplies, ASICS tennis shoes, back-to-school haircuts, food and fellowship, all for free.
"We plan to host at least 400 children on a first- come, first-served basis," said Dr. Amy Woods. “The child must be present to receive the backpack and supplies.”
Hearts and Hands Ministries operates three days a week – Tuesdays noon-2 p.m., Thursdays, 4 p.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday morning, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. The ministry is in need of either back-to-school items or financial donations to cover the cost of the backpacks and school supplies.
Items and financial donations are due by August 4.
