It had been a good while since I’d been to a family reunion.
Unfortunately, on my side of the family, they’ve dwindled in importance over the years.
I fondly recall Pop’s (my grandfather Burleson’s) side of the family gathering at his and Mom’s old homeplace when I was a child. It had the best big shade tree ever.

Joys of new refrigerator
I admit to being a computer nerd-type. I don’t really know enough to be a real nerd -- I guess I’m a “wanna-be” nerd.
Nerd though I am, I’m having trouble with my new refrigerator.
Pop and I decided a couple weeks ago that our old refrigerator was on its last legs. The icemaker no longer worked (we’ve been using ice trays for a couple months now and it’s been interesting), drawers in the doors were falling off, the handles on the front had lost their coverings and on and on.

ATMs soon to be in church foyers?
A church lady with whom I am well acquainted asked me if I would give her a dollar bill in exchange for four quarters. In response to my puzzled glance she volunteered that she wanted the dollar to put in the collection plate at church, “since it is not the Sunday I give my monthly check.” Unfortunately, this prompted a ministerial frown and a question as to why it was necessary to give a dollar. I was instructed that “in my day I was taught it is not proper to let the offering plate pass without putting something in.” Indeed.
