Danny Bobo of Jacksonville, Fla.
Eric William Bernard Carmichael
Eric William Bernard Carmichael, 19, of
Coldwater, died June 19, 2008 in Senatobia. He was a warehouse factory
worker.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 27
at New Independence Baptist Church in Coldwater. Burial was in New
Garden Cemetery in Coldwater. Rodgers Funeral Home of Coldwater was in
charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Zakyah Young; his
mother, Diane Truddle of Coldwater; his father, Rickey Carmichael of
Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Kaylyn Truddle of Coldwater, Kizzi

Robert Wallace DeBerry
Robert (Bob) Wallace DeBerry, 86, of
Red Banks, died June 24, 2008 at Trinity Nursing Home. He was a
merchant and owner of DeBerry’s Grocery for 47 years. He was
a member of Red Banks Methodist Church, a World War II Air Force
veteran, a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on June
26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Red Banks
Cemetery. Bro. Troy Defer of Red Banks Baptist Church officiated.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Martha
Jean DeBerry; three daughters, Debbie DeBerry of Red Banks, Lisa Warren
of Olive Branch, Melanie Poole of Red Banks; a sister, Elizabeth
McClatchy of Red Banks; a brother, Bert DeBerry of South Carolina; and
two grandchildren.

McClatchy, John McClatchy, George Goodman, Steve Martin and Charles

Tinnie Jones Alexander
Tinnie Jones Alexander, 90, of Memphis,
Tenn., formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died June 19, 2008 at Ashton Place
Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Bert Alexander Sr.
She was a missionary, a treasurer, a member of the choir and an usher.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 26
at Pleasant Hill CME Church in Mt. Pleasant, where she was a member.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Willie Hoey officiated. J.F.
Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Levester A.
Campbell of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Bert Alexander Jr. of
Rochester, N.Y., Phillip Alexander of Lubbock, Tx., Perry Alexander of

She was preceded in death by a
daughter, Icephine West.

James S. Green, 65, of Holly Springs,
died June 24, 2008 at the Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs.

at Pate-Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Senatobia. Burial was in Cathey
Cemetery near Wyatte.
He leaves his wife, Wanda Green; his
daughter, Renee J. Green of Dallas, Tx.; his son, Richard Anthony Green
of Murcheson, Tx.; his stepson, Bobby Allison of Corsicana, Tx.;
sisters, Beverly Ward of Petal, Jean Kary of Portland, Ore., Bonnie
Green of Dallas, Tx.; brothers, John Green of Petal, Robert Green of
Purvis, Tom Green of Reed Spring, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
brothers, J.R. Green and Richard Green.

Myra C. Hudson, 72, of Holly Springs,
died June 30, 2008 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a
member of First Pentecostal Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 2
at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Billy Saxon and Bro. Jerry
Waldrop officiated. Burial was in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat.
She leaves her husband, Lee Hudson;

Elvira King, 51, of Holly Springs, died
June 25, 2008 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She
was employed with Marshall County and worked as an office custodian for
14 years.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 2
at Chulahoma Baptist Church. Burial was in Yarbrough Chapel Cemetery.

Darlene Lance, 62, of Blue Mountain,
died June 21, 2008 at Briarcrest Health Care in Ashland. She moved to
Blue Mountain 11 years ago.

clerical worker with Ledic Management.

D’Aunta (Duke) Payton, 10, of
Olive Branch, died June 23, 2008 at Baptist Hospital, DeSoto. He had
completed the fourth grade at Potts Camp School.
Services were held at 12 noon on June
30, 2008 at Hernando Church of Christ in Holly Springs. Burial was in

Rosie Lee Tilmon Scaife, 88, of
Michigan City, died June 22, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of
Fred Scaife, a member of the church choir and a member of Order of
Eastern Star. She was a retired bus driver for Benton County School
System for 16 years.

at Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland, where she was a member. Burial

great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons,
Frank Mills Jr., Johnny Scaife, James Scaife.

Lillian Rozetta Payne Sherwood
Lillian Rozetta Payne Sherwood, 80, of
Holly Springs, formerly of Mena, Ark., died June 17, 2008 in Southaven.
She was the widow of Lloyd Edward Sherwood Sr., her husband of 56 years.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 21
at Dallas Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in
Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Bro. Donnie Edwards officiated. Beasley-Wood
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Donald Gene Sherwood
of Alvord, Tx.; two daughters, Linda Fern Jewell of Holly Springs,
Patricia Ann Sharp of Mena, Ark.; half-sisters, Carole Thompson of
Redding, Calif., Marie Payne of Texas; stepbrother, Carl Cornelius of
Abilene, Tx.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son,
Lloyd Edward Sherwood Jr.; half-sisters, Leona Combs, Wilma Smith, Ruby
Arndt; stepsisters, Helen Lawrence, Hazel Baker; and stepbrothers,
Herman, Norman and Vic Cornelius.
Robert Emmon Tyson Sr.
Robert Emmon Tyson Sr., 80, of Holly
Springs, died June 27, 2008 at his home.
He received a B.S. from the University
of Mississippi and a M.D. from the University of Tennessee. He
practiced internal medicine in private practice for over 30 years at
Jackson Medical Associates (now Jackson Medical Clinic) in Jackson. He
served as chief of staff at St. Dominic Hospital, chief of staff at
Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson and was governor of Mississippi
for the American College of Physicians. He was also the first clinical
professor of medicine at the University of Mississippi School of
Medicine. He spent his entire life faithfully serving God in a variety
of capacities, including Sunday school teacher for over 40 years,
leader of Bible study groups, lay member of Annual Conference and many
positions of leadership on church committees at Galloway Memorial
United Methodist Church in Jackson and First United Methodist Church in
Holly Springs. He also served on the boards of Memphis Theological
Seminary, Rust College, Marshall County Forestry Association
(president) and Marshall County Habitat for Humanity.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Carolyn
Louise Tyson; four children, Jane Franklin Tyson of Germantown, Tenn.,
Robert Emmon Tyson Jr. of Columbia, S.C., Carolyn Louise (Lou) Tyson of
London, England, Sara Tyson Hannon; three siblings, Sara Tyson Harris,
Edmund Taylor Tyson, Jack Alexander Tyson; and six grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June
30 at First United Methodist Church. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Laura Virginia Tyson

Crystal Cherri Wooten, 16, of
Birmingham, Ala., died June 24, 2008 at her home. She was a native of
Oxford and attended Lafayette County School System.

at Springfield MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery in
Abbeville. Rev. Jerry Malone officiated. Hodges-Serenity Funeral Home
of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Shelia Wooten of
Pinson, Ala.; a brother, Damian Wooten of Pinson, Ala.; two sisters,
Karen Wooten of Pinson, Ala., LaShundra Blake of Oxford; grandparents,
Katie Smith of Abbeville, Ethel and Lawrence Wooten of Waterford.
She was preceded in death by her
father, Johnny Wooten.
