Merchants & Farmers Bank is building a new branch facility at Hickory Flat, according to president Greg Taylor.
The
current bank office in the Benton County town is too small and
Merchants and Farmers will expand services at its new location on
Highway 178 with opening expected in late fall.
“We’ve had good
deposit growth here and have never made loans here,” Taylor said
during the groundbreaking Monday morning.
That
will all change with the new facility that will have a branch manager,
a loan officer, and two tellers. ATM service and two drive-thru lanes
will be added when the new branch building opens.

Chris
Woods Construction of Memphis will build the new bank. The current
branch, located at 261 Wolfe Street in Hickory Flat, has been in
operation since 1995, Taylor said.
The new branch building will be approximately 2,400 square feet.
“We
have outgrown our facility in Hickory Flat,” Taylor said, “and we look
forward to offering our current and future customers in south Benton
County all the conveniences of a modern banking facility with a
hometown atmosphere,” Taylor said.
He said some
new products offered by Merchants and Farmers Bank include totally free
checking, overdraft production, internet banking and bill payment,
e-mail statements, telephone banking, gift cards and vacation club
accounts.
Merchants and Farmers Bank was established in 1899.
The
main office of M&F Bank is located at 650 Highway 7 South, Holly
Springs. The Ashland branch is at 15980 Boundary Drive, and the Byhalia
Branch is located at 523 Highway 309 South.
