A
happy Ronnie Luther had nothing but praise for the Byhalia area
communities and Marshall County for a hugely successful Clydesdale
Christmas Store Festival over the weekend. The Byhalia Lions Club and the Watson and Byhalia fire departments as well as the Christmas Store benefit from the proceeds. The fire departments handled the parking lot which was packed for a Saturday evening of rodeo and feature band Little Texas. Daryl
Tice of Red Banks won the blue above-ground swimming pool raffle and
Little Texas donated an autographed guitar for this year’s Christmas
Store auction, Luther said. Twenty-eight bikers entered the motorcycle show Thursday night with a total of 40 motorcycles packing in for the fanfare. “It’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen at an event in Marshall County,” Luther said. He
estimated 9,000 attended the festival over the three-day event with
about 5,000 turning out Saturday evening for the carnival, rodeo and
bands. “Little Texas had the crowd standing the whole time,” Luther said. “It was packed.” The carnival also had a great three days. It contributes a portion of its gate to the Clydesdale Store, he said. J Bar B Rodeo, which entertained Friday and Saturday nights, saw its biggest crowd ever at this event, Luther said. The rodeo has become a regular feature of the Clydesdale Festival. Fifteen teams participated in the hot-wings cook-off. Luther
expressed his appreciation to all who got involved to make this
festival run smoothly, including the festival sponsors, the Town of
Byhalia and its fire department, Watson Fire Department, Byhalia Police
Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, the Lions Club
volunteers and Resourceful Environmental Solutions, which handled the
solid waste. All proceeds from the festival, after costs are subtracted, go to charitable causes
