Education Breithaupt honored
Ben Breithaupt was recently honored for outstanding academic achievement at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. During
the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year, Breithaupt earned
one of the college’s top academic honors – a Gold Star. Gold Star
honors are presented to students who achieve a 3.7 grade point average
or higher during a semester’s course work. Students who achieve Gold
Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel’s Dean’s List. While at The Citadel, Breithaupt is a member of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and seeking a BA in criminal justice. He is the son of Perry and Beth Breithaupt of Holly Springs. |
Dillard selected Congratulations to Steven
Dillard, a junior at Potts Camp High School, who was selected as one of
12 students from the state of Mississippi to be a member of the
2013-2014 Generation FREE Youth Advisory Board. Dillard’s
selection was based on an essay he wrote and an oral interview by the
youth advisory board and Frederick Wiley, Youth Programs director. As
part of the youth advisory board, Dillard will work to educate youth
about the dangers of tobacco use. Also, Dillard will help to plan and
implement L.E.A.D. and iFLY conferences, along with S.M.A.R.T. training
workshop presentations, for students throughout the state of
Mississippi. Dillard is a member of the Potts
Camp FCCLA, which is sponsored by Cindy Nance, family and consumer
science teacher at Potts Camp High School. Nance is also on the Board of the Mississippi Tobacco FREE Coalition, sponsored by Linda Turner.
Northwest announces Dean’s List The Dean’s
List for the Spring 2013 semester at Northwest Community College has
been released by college officials. Area students receiving this honor
are: Tammy Graves, Justin Huddleston, both of
Ashland; Carlie Brandom, Jason Chandle, John Chea, Kayla Cranford,
Michael Davis, Julian Gracia, Noal Kolarik, Chelsea Nichols, Amber
Noyes, Cheyanna Pettey, Daniel Quick, Kyle Seymour, Wesley Smithey,
Bahansha Stigall, Susan Thomas, all of Byhalia; Shelby
Young of Hickory Flat; Cashauna Bowen, Kaneisha Oliver, both of Holly
Springs; Rachel Ash, Keira Cowan, John Dunning, Joseph Gurley, all of
Potts Camp; Jerbrina Jones of Red Banks; and Rachel Smith of Waterford. The Dean’s List includes students completing a minimum of 12 semester hours with a 3.50 to 3.74 average.
President’s List released at Northwest Community College The
President’s List for the Spring 2013 semester at Northwest Mississippi
Community College has been released by college officials. Area students
