19th annual Potts Camp School Reunion June 7 The
19th annual Potts Camp School Reunion will be held Saturday, June 7,
starting with registration at 10 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Lunch
will be served at noon for a nominal fee. Mitch Stone
Jr. will serve as the emcee for the reunion. The Class of 1958 will be
honored on their 50th anniversary. Also, the Class of 1948 will be
honored for their 60th anniversary. All
students, current and former, as well as teachers, principals, and
other staff are encouraged to attend. Also encouraged to attend are
all former basketball players, cheerleaders, managers, etc. as well as
the 1961 basketball championship team members or a representative of
their family. All composites have been hung in
the auditorium for visitors to view. Also, the floors in the high
school building have been refinished and a drawing of a Cardinal head
has been painted on the floor at the entrance. The walls have
been repainted to enhance the appearance of school. There have also
been other renovations to the school buildings. This
is always a very exciting time to meet and visit with former

Several from area receive degrees at UMMC’s 52nd Commencement More
than 485 physicians, dentists, nurses, allied health professionals, and
graduate students in the health sciences were awarded degrees during
the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s 52nd Commencement May 23
at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. University
of Mississippi Chancellor Robert Khayat and Dr. Dan Jones, UMMC vice
chancellor for health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine,
presided over the ceremony in which the following degrees were
conferred: Three area students were among the graduates. Sarah
Frances Crain, daughter of Carey Rather Crain of Holly Springs and the
late Donald Crain, received the DMD. A 2004 graduate of Mississippi
State University, she received the 2008 Bradford A. Gordon Memorial
Award. She will begin advanced education in general dentistry at UMMC. Wyatt
Lindsay Work, son of Rod and Pat Work of Holly Springs, received the
DPT. The 2004 graduate of Mississippi State University received the
2008 Academic Excellence Award. Stephanie Elaine
Thompson, daughter of Steve Dodson and the late Sharon Dodson and wife
of Mark Thompson of Hickory Flat, received the MSN.
