Memories at ballpark
The tradition started when my son Andy was in elementary school.
Most years, in late May, we’d drive to Hoover, Ala., for the SEC Baseball Tournament.
We’d usually only stay for a couple of days – due to my job and his youth baseball schedule.

It’s finally graduation
County graduations are somewhat later this year than in previous years. Potts Camp and Byhalia, along with H.W. Byers, will have graduation Saturday, May 31, at the Northwest auditorium in Senatobia.
I don’t know anyone at Byers, but Potts Camp is the school my granddaughters attend and Byhalia is where Robin, one of my oldest granddaughter’s best friends (more like family) attends and will be graduating from this year.
Wicker applauds passage of water resources legislation
Earlier this month, Mississippi welcomed a new addition to the Port of Gulfport. McDermott International, which serves the offshore oil and gas industry, announced it would bring its pipeline finishing operations to the East Pier and consolidate its Gulf of Mexico operations center in Gulfport. The investment is expected to create at least 100 jobs.
Letters to the Editor
Thank you, thank you
We, the members of Branch 2202 and all postal employees from our wonderful city, would like to say “Thank You,” from the bottom of our hearts for helping to make this year’s Letter Carriers’ Food Drive a success. Without you it would not have been possible.
Whether you donated food, ran an ad, made a radio announcment or volunteered, it all went into making our food pantries have a little more help.
It has been such a blessing to see so many people working together for a common cause.
Thank you, thank you
Old telephone books
We’ve gotten an occasional request at the Marshall County Historical Museum for information from old Holly Springs telephone books. In our inventory thus far, we’ve come up with one from 1933.
Researchers use these as sort of a “bluebook” if you will, of who was in business and or who lived where - if they had a telephone.
We are asking the households of Holly Springs and Marshall County that if you have any telephone books prior to 1965, please let us know as we would be pleased to add them to the archive we are building here at the museum.
In advance thank you,
Chelius H. Carter, director
