It
was a cold, wintry night when the Devils of Ashland swept into the
Cardinals’ territory last Friday, looking to knock off their rivals in
the neighboring county. The Potts Camp girls came
out a bit sluggish, however, they registered the first five points and
then the visitors took over. They weren’t blistering the track; they
were just steady. The Lady Devils were getting distributive scoring
help and went to a 20-16 first quarter lead. Full Story
Patriots ease by Kirk, Oak Hill By BARRY BURLESON Editor The
Marshall Academy Patriots, ranked number one in Class AA, put two easy
wins under their belts last week to go to 16-2 overall. The Lady Patriots fell to the same two opponents, Kirk and Oak Hill, and saw their record drop to 13-9. Full Story

Lady Indians downed 5A Hernando 73-67 on the road. The win avenged a

H.W. Byers teams playing in shootout this Saturday H.W. Byers basketball teams saw their first action of the new year Tuesday night when they hosted Ashland in Region 2-1A play. The
Lions and Lady Lions will then go to Class 3A Independence this Friday
night before participating in the Hickory Flat Domino’s Shootout on
Saturday, Jan. 12. The Lady Lions will meet Bay St. Louis at 1:40 in
the shootout and the Lions go against Bruce at 3 p.m. Next Tuesday, Jan. 15, Byers squads travel to Myrtle in district action. The Lady Lions entered this week with an 11-3 record, while the Lions began the week at 7-7.
Rodeo set for Saturday The Deep South Championship Rodeo is coming to the Marshall County Fairgrounds Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. Ticket
prices for the rodeo, produced by J Bar B Rodeo Co., are $8 for adults,
$6 for children, and free for children 3 and under. For more

Baseball camp begins Feb. 3 H.W. Byers High
School is hosting a six-week baseball camp starting February 3. Byers
head coach Arthur Sellers will direct the program in conjunction with
U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available
for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to six players per coach.
Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding
