A happy group of Patriots all got the feel of a second straight North State championship trophy Thursday.
But this Marshall Academy baseball team hopes to touch a first this week.
Pritchett best in North
On April 29, the Marshall golf team put it all on the line, trying to finish in the top four at north half (in River Oaks, La.) in order to qualify for state.
These young golfers had never been down this road before and soon found out just how important every stroke they could save would mean when the time came to total scores up.
Hawks first in region
The Holly Springs High School boys followed up their Division 1-3A track and field championship with a Region 1-3A championship.
In the recent region meet, held at Oxford High School, the Hawks placed first out of 10 schools competing with 125 points.
Cardinals win region
The Potts Camp boys took top honors in the Region 2-2A Track and Field Meet held April 29 on their campus.
The Cardinals totaled 169 points, followed by Calhoun City with 100, East Union with 93.50 and Bruce with 67.
Behind The Scoreboard
The second round of the NBA got underway with two games on tap for the weekend. The Oklahoma City Thunder had the pleasure of contending with an old Western Conference nemesis which is developing into an interesting rivalry. Our closest pro team, the Memphis Grizzlies, was seemingly prepared to meet the old foe after a spirit lifting win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Ashland second; Byers girls fifth
The Ashland girls and boys took second place in the Region 2-1A Track and Field Meet April 29 at Potts Camp High School.
Teams from H.W. Byers also competed, with the Lady Lions finishing fifth and the Lions eighth.
