Holly Springs Tourism Bureau and the Main Street Chamber have organized
a local National Tourism Day to celebrate tourism in the city, in
connection with National Tourism Week. LaKisha M.
Buffington, executive director of the Tourism Bureau, said locals are
the first tourists in the city. She wants to get businesses involved in
the May 11 event set for the hours of 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the courthouse
square. The venue is free to the public and to local vendors who may set up booths downtown. Live entertainment is planned as well. Some
planned events include putt-putt golf set up by Kirkwood National and
face painting by the employees at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center. To inquire further, call the tourism office at 662-252-2515. Food for Fines in May at county library During
the whole month of May, individuals can bring canned food items into
any branch of the Marshall County Library, Holly Springs, Potts Camp or
Byhalia, and take care of their library fines. One can is equal to $1 in fines. All donations will go to the Marshall County Food Pantry at New Hope Village in Holly Springs. “Help a family in need,” said library director Amanda McDonald. Byhalia police officers respond to 28 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 28 calls during the past week. Chief

miscellaneous, 4; escorts, 8; thefts, 1; disturbances, 2; animals, 1;
assists, 4; damaged property, 2; medical 4; and DUI, 1. Byhalia police officers also made two arrests during the past week.
