Strickland in first Hall of Fame class Northeast
Mississippi Community College inducted its inaugural class into the
newly formed NEMCC Sports Hall Of Fame on Thursday, April 17, and the
group included David “Nub” Strickland of Holly Springs. Full Story

 | Former MA player signs with Christian Brothers
Jimmy
Palmer (front, right) signed a basketball scholarship with Christian
Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn. (D-II) and Adrian Miller inked
with John Brown University in Arkansas (NAIA ). Both student athletes
are from Hernando High School in Hernando. Palmer played for coach
Craig Dailey at Marshall Academy during his junior season. In back,
from left, are coach Josh Brooks (Hernando boys basketball coach),
Andrew Miller, Sandra Miller, Susan Palmer, Paul Palmer and coach
Anthony Jenkins (Hernando athletic director). Palmer was one of The
Clarion Ledger Top 40 Seniors to Watch, won the 1,000 Point Award,
Second Team All-District, National Honor Society and Who’s Who Scholar.
Miller won Hernando High Best Defense Award, Memphis All-Area Team, The
Clarion Ledger Honorable Mention Team and First Team All-District. Both
these student athletes have won various awards throughout the Hernando
High School 2007-08 basketball season.They have played together for two
years at school and three years of summer ball. |
Byers teams take second Both the H.W. Byers Lions and Lady Lions finished second in the District 1-2A Track Meet April 16 at Tupelo. Full Story
Softball clinic this Sunday at Marshall The Marshall Academy softball team will host the Lady Patriots’ Fast Pitch Hitting Clinic on Sunday, May 4. Cost is $40 per player. Times are 2 p.m to 4 p.m. for grades 7-12 and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for grades 1-6. The
clinic, hosted by the defending state AA champions, will be conducted
by Kara Ross, director of softball at the Gameday Sports Academy in
Memphis, Tenn. Each player will be instructed on hitting fundamentals,
bunting, hitting the inside and outside pitches and the proper slide
