Marshall County clean-up scheduled for May 12-26
County spring clean-up has been set by the board of supervisors to run
two weeks - from May 12 through May 26.
Citizens can place odds and ends like furniture and
scraps in
the dumpsters which will be placed near most community centers.
Brush and wood debris, household garbage and chemicals
and
paints should not be included in trash going into the roll-off
dumpsters.
A complete list of locations where dumpster bins are to
be
located is on page 13 of this week’s paper.
Lessye Lee Davis parade, other activities this Saturday
The Lessye Lee Davis activity and parade committee is making final
preparations for the 2008 Lessye Lee Davis “May Day” festivities.
The parade is scheduled for this Saturday, May 3,
beginning at
11 a.m. on the old M.I. campus.
This is an annual event in memory of “Mama Lessye,” who
was
the 4-H and Homemakers Club advisor in Marshall County for many years.
This day is set aside to pay tribute and keep her legacy alive.
The parade will start from the M.I. campus, go around
the
square taking Memphis Street to Van Dorn, Van Dorn to Randolph,
Randolph to Rust Avenue and then return to the M.I. campus.
Everyone is urged to participate. There will also be
booths
set up on the M.I. campus. For more information on Saturday’s May Day

County Republicans select new executive committee
The Marshall County Republican Committee Convention was held on
Saturday, April 26, at the courthouse in Holly Springs.
The executive committee members elected for the next
four
years are:
• District 1 - Bill Springfield, Sallye Springfield, Del
Stover.
• District 2 - Nellie Smith.
• District 3 - Patty Albrecht, Lee Albrecht and Ann Lee
(secretary).
• District 4 - Lisa Cole (chairman), Dorothy Green,
Doris Lee
(vice chairman).
• District 5 - Bill Baston, Norma Baston, Jim Dunworth.
• At-Large - Donna Miller, James Miller, Sofia Dunworth,
Robert Lee, Richard Cash, Joseph Meeker.
Delegates to the state convention are Lisa Cole and
Patty and
Lee Albrecht.
Memorial blood drive May 1 memorializes Reece
Marshall Academy will host a memorial blood drive Thursday, May 1, in
memory of Bradley Reece.
It will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the gymnasium.
T-shirts will be given to all donors. Please bring ID.
