Circuit clerk extends hours for voter ID
The Marshall County Circuit Clerk’s office announces extended hours for those needing voter photo ID cards.
The extended hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, and from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 3.
Anyone with questions about voter ID can call the clerk’s office, 252-3434.
Parade, other activities slated for Saturday
This Saturday is the annual celebration in memory of “Mama Lessye.”
The Lessye Lee Davis Parade starts at 11 a.m. in Holly Springs. Line-up begins at 9:30 a.m. on the old MI College campus.
There will be a memorial graveside service at 8:30 a.m. in Hill Crest Cemetery.
There will also be a day filled with fun activities on the old M.I. campus.
The event is in memory of Lessye Lee Davis, Marshall County 4-H Extension agent from 1928-1976.

Annual health fair slated for May 15
The 14th annual Eddie L. Smith Health Fair will be held on Thursday, May 15, in Holly Springs.
“On the Move for a Healthy Community” is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Eddie L. Smith Multi-Purpose Building, 235 North Memphis Street, Holly Springs.
There will be free health screenings, plus food, fun and door prizes.
State playoff series Wednesday, Friday
The Marshall Academy baseball playoff series versus Benton Academy was shifted to Wednesday and Friday of this week.
Coach Bart Jenkins said the field at Benton was too wet on Tuesday of this week, when game one was originally scheduled.
Game one will be at Benton Wednesday at 5 p.m. and games two and three (if needed) will be at Marshall starting at 4 p.m. Friday.
Byhalia police officers respond to 34 calls
The Byhalia Police Department responded to 34 calls last week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – miscellaneous, 8; escorts, 6; juveniles, 3; thefts, 1; disturbances, 1; motor vehicle accidents, 4; assists, 1; fires, 2; medical, 1; and alarm calls, 7.
Byhalia officers also made four arrests last week.
