other races were too close to call at press-time and hinge on affidavit
ballots to be looked at Wednesday. Those races are for aldermen in
wards 1 and 2. Incumbent Garrie Colhoun of Ward 3
was the only clear winner Tuesday night after unofficial election
results were tallied. He received 371 votes to Christopher

Board hears zoning issue By SUE WATSON Staff Writer A
Barton citizens advisory committee met with a developer’s
representative to discuss rezoning, but didn’t check with citizens of a
subdivision who say they would be affected by the rezoning, according
to several residents of the Barton Heights Subdivision. Bob
Barber, representing developer Earl Warren, and subdivision residents
Lloyd Yarbrough and David Moak, were on opposite sides of a rezoning
issue brought before the Marshall County Board of Supervisors last week

muralist Elton Collins recently installed the first of four murals
commissioned by the tourism bureau on the side of the Utley Building in
Holly Springs. “Murals are part of the Cultural
Corners designation we received last summer from Governor Haley
Barbour,” said Stephanie Movre, executive director of the bureau. “A
permanent art exhibit around the square or in the downtown area that
represents the history and cultural heritage of the town was part of

Registration opens for Ecology Day Camp Strawberry
Plains Audubon Center will once again be hosting its Summer Ecology Day
Camp, from July 13-17, for students entering grades 2-5. The
camp is a week packed full of exciting activities. Students will be
able to take daily nature hikes, explore various habitats, participate
in guided field experiences and learn about our native plants and
animals. The hours for the camp will be 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday
