Chief recaps illegal gaming sting By SUE WATSON Staff Writer A

netted about 13 arrests, according to police chief William Hollowell. The

Rotary Club last week.

operations, were invited to present the proposed plans and discuss what
the district’s current needs are for classroom space. They were the

Absentee voting available in city By BARRY BURLESON Editor Absentee voting continues for the May 7 primary election in Holly Springs for mayor and aldermen. Individuals
who will not be able to vote in person in the May 7 election may come
to the clerk’s office at city hall and vote absentee in person on
weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or on the next two Saturdays, April 27 and
May 4, from 8 a.m. until noon. The deadline to vote absentee in person

Blackwater Road dedication honors Pryor By SUE WATSON Staff Writer Some said it was recognition way overdue. Others said it was giving a man his roses while he lives. Friends
and family of J.R. “Red” Pryor gathered Tuesday, April 16, at the east
end of Blackwater Road to dedicate the road in the honor of a man

Advisory committee approved By SUE WATSON Staff Writer The
Holly Springs Board of Aldermen unanimously approved the formation of a
police advisory committee recently. The measure will make it possible
for the community to offer suggestions on how it thinks the city’s
policing could be improved. Chief William

Holly Springs police respond to 129 calls Officers with the Holly Springs Police Department responded to 129 calls last week, according to chief William Hollowell. The
calls included - disturbances, 13; alarms, 20; larcenies, 7; accidents,
7; funeral escorts, 1; assists to agencies, 5; assaults, 3; burglaries,
12; auto burglaries, 1; missing persons, 1; and 59 miscellaneous calls.

Two die in traffic accidents By SUE WATSON Staff Writer Coroner
James Richard Anderson reported on a traffic fatality Saturday on
Highway 72 and one that occurred April 11 on Highway 78. A motorcycle rider died in a collision with a 1995 Chevy Suburban around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, he said. Full Story
