SocietyCity Personals Sandor Viradi and band perform Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Collins of Atlanta, Ga., were visitors this weekend for the 75th annual Holly Springs Pilgrimage. Both Neil and Regan Murphy, children of Susie and Harold, were spotted out and about this weekend. Neil lives in Jackson and Regan in Starkville. Sandor Viradi and his band played at Bo Jangles Saturday night. He is a favorite among locals and will be reappearing in May. Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., was the weekend guest of Mary Clay and Gene Brooks and children, Caitlyn and Grady. While here, he also visited with Laura and Kay Wheeler. This week starts post-season play for the Marshall Academy Patriots baseball team. They travelled to Bastrop, La., Tuesday to face off in the best two out of three series with Prairie View. They played one game and will be playing on Patriot Field Friday afternoon. One game definite, possibly two. Go on down to Patriot Field and cheer these boys on in their playoff games! Friday night the senior players (Vince Hoyt, Aaron McAlexander and Matt Rappa) will be recognized with a special ceremony. It’s always a good time behind the backstop at Patriot Field! Anna Beth McAlexander, Kevin Scott to wed July 12 in Hattiesburg Drs. Mike and Liesa Weaver and Carey McAlexander of Petal are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Beth McAlexander, to Kevin Ray Scott, son of Nancy and Ray Scott of Picayune. Anna Beth is a 2007 graduate of William Carey University with a degree in elementary education. She currently teaches fourth grade in the Petal School District. She is the granddaughter of J.M. “Flick” Ash and Floy Ash and Jean McAlexander King and the late J.P. McAlexander all of Potts Camp. Kevin is a 2004 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in audio engineering. He is currently the technical director at First Baptist Church of Hattiesburg. The wedding ceremony and reception will take place at The Venue in Hattiesburg on July 12, 2013. After marriage, the couple plans to reside in Petal. Birth announcement Wells Megan and Jason Wells, of Chaffee, Mo., announce the birth of a daughter, Layla Nicole Elizabeth Wells, on March 19, 2013, at 1:19 p.m., at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She weighed seven pounds, four ounces and was 20 inches long. She is welcomed home by grandparents, Bob and René Wilhite of Chaffee and Johnny and Annette Wells of Byhalia. |
