The
Byhalia Lions Club hosted their first annual “Luck of the Irish” Domino
Tournament on Saturday, the 15th of March. Domino players came from as
far away as Kansas City, Mo. to play for the $300 grand prize. Local
players from Olive Branch, Byhalia and Holly Springs played very well
and were able to advance to the semi-final round. Travis
Newsom, three time world champion and his partner, Jerome Wooten,
current PDA champion, won the tournament that took almost six hours to
complete. Mr. Marler and Stanley Oneal took the second place prize of
$150. The Byhalia Lions Club would like to thank
our very generous tournament host and sponsors: Northcentral Electric
Power Association, State Representative Tommy Woods, Health First
Medical Clinic, CLM Insurance, Dempsey Construction, Griffin Inc.,
Greer & White Insurance, and Citizens Bank. The
Byhalia Lions Club will promote the “Luck of the Irish” domino
tournament next year with advanced and amateur brackets, with more
prize money and more players.
