Annual walking horse show Saturday at
fairgrounds
The Holly Springs Charity Walking Horse Classic will be held this
Saturday, March 15.
The show, sponsored by the Holly
Springs Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 5 p.m. at the Marshall
County Fairgrounds, Highway 7 North.
There will be 32 classes of
competition.
The walking horse classic is
affiliated
with the National Horse Show Commission, the Mid South Walking Horse
Association and the Mississippi Walking Horse Association.
The March 15 show benefits the
Holly
Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Holly Springs Rotary Club
scholarship fund.
Byhalia police officers respond to thefts, accidents
The Byhalia Police Department responded to 61 calls during the past
week.
Chief Gary Looney released the
following report – 11 alarm calls, six motor vehicle
accidents, one disturbance, four thefts, 14 escorts, two
juvenile-related calls, 12 assists, one harassment and 10 miscellaneous
calls.
Byhalia police officers also made
two
arrests on the following charges:
• Shoplifting.
• Driving while license
suspended, careless driving.
Holly Springs police report two business burglaries
The Holly Springs Police Department is investigating two business
burglaries reported on March 6.
The owner of a business in the
900
block of Hwy. 311 stated he discovered six-feet-high and 10-feet-long
fence panels and two gate fence panels missing. Items are valued at
$550.
A business burglary was also
reported
in the 100 block of East Boundary. Stolen were three dog pens valued at
$785.
On March 8, officers responded to
a
report of missing items in the 200 block of Elder Street. Items
reportedly taken were a Toshiba laptop, 32” Phillips TV, a
diamond wedding ring, one family ring with stones, one gold necklace
with cross, one Cingular cell phone, one X-Box system and 20 X-Box and
Play Station games. Items taken were valued at over $2,800.
Holly Springs officers also
responded
to the following activities last week – driving while license
suspended, five; no driver’s license/expired
driver’s license, three; no proof of insurance, three;
careless driving, two; disregard for traffic devices, four; improper
parking, one; domestic violence/simple assault, one.
