Holly Springs, Kenneth Bernard McMullen has signed up to run for Ward 4
alderman, while Mae Gill has qualified to seek the alderman at-large
position. In Byhalia, Mary Ann Cooper has qualified to run for alderman. In
Potts Camp, qualifying to run for alderman were incumbents Jimmie
Collins, Robert Swinford and Wanda Love, plus another candidate,
Sabrina Porter. The deadline for qualifying is this Friday, March 8, at 5 p.m. Each candidate must be a qualified voter and resident of the city or ward for which he or she is seeking political office. The
primary elections (if needed) are Tuesday, May 7, with a runoff date of
Tuesday, May 21. Municipal general elections are set for Tuesday, June
4. The new four-year term for city elected officials will begin Monday,

City school board plans March 19 meeting The March meeting of the Holly Springs School District Board of Trustees will be held Tuesday, March 19, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Holly Springs High School library, 165 North Walthall Street. Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend This weekend is the switch to Daylight Saving Time. Don’t forget to wind your clocks forward one hour before going to bed Saturday night. Time officially changes at 2 a.m. Sunday. Daylight Saving Time runs from March 10 until November 3. Byhalia police officers respond to 25 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 25 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 6;
miscellaneous, 7; escorts, 3; thefts, 1; disturbances, 1; motor vehicle
accidents, 1; fires, 1; and medical, 5. Byhalia police officers also made two arrests during the past week, according to Chief Looney.
