Junior High Hawks and Peewee Hawks repeat as champs

Holly Springs head coach Rodney Redmond once again led the Junior High and Peewee Hawks to a Northeast Mississippi conference championship, defeating H.W. Byers Junior High Lions with a final score of 34-26. The Peewee Hawks defeated Holy Family Peewee squad with a final score of 23-2. The Hawks have won the championship two years in a row.

Redmond was awarded coach of the year and Holly Springs Junior High Jatavion ‘Big Man’ Pegues Jatavion was awarded conference player of the year.

Redmond said the parents’ support and the teams hard work have made them champions.

“This season was really fun. I first want to thank all of my players’ parents. They are the ones who believed in my philosophy and saw the vision that I have for our boys,” Redmond said. “Everyone was brought in from the start – during our parent/team meetings. We also showcased the fruits of our postseason labor, from skill work to conditioning to traveling to compete against the best, which made us battle-tested during the actual season.”

The proud coach said it was a blueprint for the teams’ success.

“We’re showing the recipe for success. The blueprint that we have here is proven and has gotten us back-to-back championships,” Redmond said.

The coach thanked the community for their support throughout the season.

“I want to send a special recognition to our community, supporters, and fans as well. They’ve been in our corner every step of the way,” Redmond said. “Everyone is consistently informing the boys and me of how proud they are of us and how they want us to keep striving. And we will do just that. As far as the offseason, we’re looking to execute ‘The Blueprint’ once again. We’re not done.”
