Cards down rival Rebels

Potts Camp split with rival Hickory Flat Tuesday, Jan. 3 – the boys winning by 41 points and the girls losing by one.

Coach Kenzaki Jones’ Cardinals were on fire out of the starting gate and stayed hot throughout on their way to an 83-42 victory.

Trell Kimmons drilled three threes in the opening quarter to ignite his teammates and the home crowd.

Potts Camp was up 28-8 after the first period and upped the advantage to 49-23 at intermission.

Mitchell Saulsberry scored eight points in the third quarter as the Cardinals remained in total control.

Kimmons finished with 16 points and three assists. Saulsberry added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Shaun Gorman had 10 points and seven rebounds.

For Hickory Flat, Jarvis Harris had a game-high 26 points.

In the first game of the night, the Lady Cardinals dropped a heartbreaker to the Lady Rebels – 54-53.

Destinee Hannah was the top gun for Potts Camp in the narrow loss. She poured in 21 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.

Ashley Anderson followed with 10 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks.

For Hickory Flat, Taylor Tables had 17 points, while Rdaztiny Harris and Karly Wilburn added 14 points each. Harris also had seven rebounds and three steals.

Potts Camp teams visited Lewisburg on Tuesday, Jan. 10. This Friday night, Jan. 13, they will travel the short distance to Holly Springs and then play in the Commo­dore Challenge (at La­fayette) Saturday.

Next Tues­day, Jan. 17, the Lady Cardinals and Cardinals host Saltillo.
